We offer a postgraduate course in Applied Petroleum Geoscience which will prepare you for, or further your career, in the petroleum industry.

Because we understand the demands of working in the sector, our course is flexible to fit around your career. You can choose to study full time and achieve your masters in just one year. Or you can study part time for up to five years to fit the course around your work commitments. You’ll study three distinct stages, which will build your knowledge and prepare you for the next stage in your professional development.

Postgraduate Certificate

Our Postgraduate Certificate is an intensive 12 week course which starts in June and ends in September. It provides you with a fast-track qualification covering geological techniques and processes and also professional skills required in the industry, including communication skills and information management. So you’ll stand out as having both the academic and practical knowledge and skills needed to work effectively in the industry.

Postgraduate Diploma

We understand that in the petroleum industry, you may spend long periods away from home, making finding a course that fits your needs more difficult. So our Postgraduate Diploma combines online study with a small amount of face to face study to ensure that you’re able to complete the qualification you need. Although you’ll be mainly studying online, you’ll still receive the support you need from our dedicated teaching team. They all have extensive experience of the industry and understand your work commitments.

MSc

The MSc stage allows you to focus on well correlation and reservoir modelling, seismic interpretation or basin modelling through an independent project. You’ll complete a written report and an oral presentation. This stage only takes four months of full time study to complete.
